The Wild Magic
Zoology nerd Kelly must overcome untamed magic and unnatural curses to save the Conservium and the boy she loves.
At the gates of Albion Hall, a hare awaits. Still as a sentinel. Guarding a world of wonders and danger.
Zoology nerd Kelly Carter (22) loves animals, and they’ve always been drawn to her, but strangely it usually ends in disaster. Mentally scarred by the claw and bite marks that defined her teen years, and distraught over her zoologist father’s recent disappearance, American Kelly takes her mother’s advice to tackle her fear head-on by enrolling in a ‘transformative’ wildlife course in England.
But there’s something unsettling about Albion Hall, where every clock is stuck at the same time, where the air is as intoxicating as champagne. Where she’s drawn to gardener Tom Farthing, with his warm, brown eyes, his sun-kissed skin and his quiet strength.
Tom keeps her grounded – and she needs it because the truth behind her new world shakes science-minded Kelly to her core. Mythical creatures exist. A secret society, the Conservium, protects them. Magic is real. It’s in Tom’s blood. Her father’s. Hers.
Albion Hall isn’t safe. It’s coordinating a rebellion against the society’s corrupt leader, who hunts a legendary creature to sacrifice in order to end a curse that will kill him in days. Kelly and the manor’s three other students are needed to unleash their special magical talents so they can track and save the animal. As her father vanished on the same mission, Kelly is keen to do it, and is desperate to find him. But there’s a traitor among them and, to succeed, Kelly must face and conquer her formidable inherent magic.
Tom believes in her, adores her, but there’s something uncanny about him. As they venture into danger, Kelly’s sure he’s hiding a vital secret. Is Tom a traitor? Or something else? Kelly will risk her heart – risk everything – to uncover the truth.
